We met up with John Barett and Kylee de Roy of the Townsville Open Water Swimming Association (TOWSA) and learnt about the ‘royal’ beginnings of the association and the direct link with the Magnetic Island Swim, which the association has run annually for more than 66 years.

We also find out about how the association has grown the sport of open water swimming in Townsville, the great events they organise each year and we go in-depth into the history of the Magnetic Island Swim. Before we finish up, we talk to Kylee about her achievements in the open water and how her role as the president of the Arcadian SLSC is an inspiration to young women.
