ONSHORE Podcast: Ep #023 – Peninsula Ocean Swimmers

Details

Date: 20 July 2020
Interview number: 023
Interviewees: Peninsula Ocean Swimmers
Venue:
Umina SLSC, Umina, New South Wales

Description

We met up with Paul, Colin, Nathaniel, Shona, Sam, Leisel, Greg, Toni, Matt, Jeremy and Crawford of the Peninsula Ocean Swimmers at the Umina SLSC in Umina and Andre swam with the crew out to the ‘far can’. The course was different to most other groups we’ve swum with, in that it just went straight out to sea from the beach.

After the swim, Louise joined us, and we sat around with hot coffees and talked about how the fairly new group came to be, the amazing sense of community that group members have and some quick-fire Q&A. We also heard about a fundraising swim across the Hawkesbury River that some of the group were involved in to support a fellow swimmer’s family, and Louise shared the background on a water safety book for children she wrote called ‘Annie and the Waves‘ – including a little song Jeremy helped produce.
