Description
We met up with Dee Greenwood, a self-confessed ‘crusty mermaid’ who is a regular open water swimmer out of Brighton, Melbourne.
A member of the Brighton Baths, you can find Dee swimming in the baths (where she enjoys the hot shower and hot coffee close by) or doing laps of Dendy Beach – that’s the one with the brightly coloured bathing boxes.

A little snippet
In this snippet from the full podcast interview, we talk about how ‘delightful’ it is to swim in the dark and cold… and what Dee’s thinking about on her way down to the water each morning.
I have an unnatural fear that there’s going to be a floating head… there’s a buoy out there and sometimes you can’t see it properly, and it just bobs up, and you think ‘ooo’, you know it’s there every time, but I think ‘there’s the floating head’, so I call it the floating head

So wonderful to actually hear my friend Dee all the way from Portugal ( Cascais) where it is mid summer and the sea water is about 18 on a good day
