Details

Date: 20 September 2020
Interview number: 039
Interviewees: Port Douglas Ocean Swimmers (Irene, Jo, Jen and Grant)
Venue:
Port Douglas SLSC, Port Douglas, Queensland

Description

We met up with the Port Douglas Ocean Swimmers on Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas for an early morning swim around the stinger net buoys (nets not in). The swim and the ocean swimming group is organised by Irene Cats, who also runs Swim Fit For Life in Port Douglas and the surrounding area.

After the swim we got together in the surf club with coffee and we learnt about ocean swimming in the tropics, dealing with the crazy seasons and we heard from swimmers who’ve only just got into the open water – and they had plenty of stories to tell!
