The Yamba ocean swim is a fun open water event in the northern New South Wales town of Yamba. With a number of swims on offer the event is the perfect day out for the whole family to enjoy.
There are three distances open to competitors - 700m, 2km and 250m. The 250m Dash for Cash is for individuals who have competed in either of the other two races.
Yamba is a gorgeous coastal town in NSW. Make sure to stay in the area for a few days to ensure enough time to explore and relax. Yamba Lighthouse and Angourie Beach are at the top of the list.
The Yamba ocean swim offer competitors a few race distances making it a suitable event for the novice to the more competitive open water athlete.
The 700m swim starts at Convent Beach and finishes at Main Beach. The 2km event starts and ends at Main Beach. It follows a simple large rectangular course marked by buoys. For any swimmer who has competed in either race, a 250m Dash for Cash is also on offer. The swim starts and finishes at Main Beach and is marked with a buoy line in the water.
Swimmers as young as 10 can take part in the 700m swim and competitors must be at least 12 to race in the 2km swim.
Open to participants from the 700m or 2km, you can put it all on the line to win the $$$. The race will take place after the other events, and in full glory of the cheering crowd.
The 700m swim for swimmers as young as 10 starts at Convent Beach and finishes at Main Beach... just a little bit of an adventure!
A 2km classic square course is in action here, with buoys marking the way away from, and back to, the main beach in front of the surf club. Swimmers 12 and over can take on this beast.

Angourie walking track is a stunning coastal trail with the most magnificent ocean views of sheltered bays and rocky shoals.
Yamba is not short of treasured picnic spots. Gather the family and a feast and spend the day by the beach at Angourie Bay picnic area.
Small town swims = lots of on-street, free parking. Start with a look down Marine Parade as you enter the surf club, then look along Ocean Street, Clarence Street and Pilot Street - all beaches that run parallel with the beach.
You'll find something, and you won't have far to walk.
