Swim the Bridge is the most bold and unforgettable swim of the New Zealand Ocean Swim Series.
The seventh of ten swims in the series, swimmers will dive into the Waitemata Harbour and swim under one of the most recognisable landmarks in New Zealand – the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Consisting of two different swim events, The Bean Rock Swim provides an ocean swim event for all ages and abilities.
– The 2km Double Crossing will see swimmers do a double crossing of the most prominent marine highway in New Zealand. Swimmers will swim under the shadow of the busiest bridge, before emerging on the city side to a cheering crowd ready to cross the finish line. The cut off time for the Double Crossing is 1 hour 10 minutes due to the fact that the harbour has to reopen.
– The 1km Single Crossing is the perfect distance for those not quite ready to take on the double crossing while building up for the big one next year. The cut off time for the Single Crossing is 35 minutes due to the fact that the harbour has to reopen.
Cut off times for the Swim the Bridge are strict due to the harbour needing to be reopened. If you fall too far behind the main pack the New Zealand Ocean Swim Series trained lifguards may ask you to board the boat as this will stretch the resources for the rest of the field.
