ONSHORE Podcast: Ep #018 – Babewatch (Ali Smith)

Details

Date: 15 July 2020
Interview number: 018
Interviewees: Babewatch (Ali Smith, organiser)
Venue:
Manly, New South Wales

Description

We met up with Ali Smith from the youth-focused ocean swimming group ‘Babewatch’ in Manly – the surf was pumping 10 foot, so a swim was out of the question.

Ali started swimming with the group when she was 12, and now at 22, she is one of the organisers. Babewatch’s ultimate goal is to create an environment where young people can use fun, a sense of community and the healing powers of the ocean to wash away the worries of the day. Ali talks about how the group came about, how mental health is at the core of the group’s existence and what they get up to throughout the year.
