The Aussie ocean swim
The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, or ‘The Aussies’ is surf life saving’s premier national surf sports event, pitting amateurs against professionals to crown the greatest lifesavers in the land.
The Aussie Ocean Swim now gives members and non-members alike a chance to be a part of this iconic festival.
The Aussies is just the tip of the surf sports iceberg – maybe a start in the Aussie Ocean Swim will be the inspiration you need to join the iconic surf life saving movement as a volunteer where you can embrace an ocean lifestyle for life!
This event shifts around wherever The Aussies is held each year.
Starting 100m south of North Kirra SLSC, the 2km swim travels around the buoys in a clockwise direction. This swim is a dry start and finish, meaning you will start on the beach at Kirra and finish through the finish arch at the start/finish point.
While you’re there
This event is all about the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships and apart from all the competition to participate in and watch, there are stalls and activities surrounding the event that you can immerse yourself in.
Travel and parking
In 2017 the Aussies will be held at Kirra Beach on the Gold Coast, and with the Aussies on there is organised event and public transport. Beach parking is wild, with 1000’s of clubbies fighting for space.
