OceanKids Swim
The OceanKids Swim is an ocean swim designed just for kids!
This event, hosted by OceanFit and part of the TamaCloey Cliffside Odyssey, is in its second year and if last year (watch video) is anything to go by the kids are in for a treat!
There’s two swim distances on offer, 200m and 400m, and children aged 8-12 can choose which distance they’d like to swim based on their ability.
Children don’t have to be a nipper to participate, and there are no prizes for winning – just a heap of spot prizes for having a go!
Water safety is at a premium as the swim takes place entirely within the confined and calm waters of Clovelly Bay – ensuring children (and parents) feel safe while they enjoy their swim. If they’re lucky they might even spot a turtle or one of the local Blue Gropers like they did last year!

On the day there’ll be appearances by stars of the Kelloggs Nutri Grain Ironman Series including local Ironwoman Tara Coleman and Queenscliff’s Tom Atkinson, and exciting surf sports beachie Katie Williams will be there too – they might even race the kids!

Registrations are limited to 100 children per distance. Please register your child online by 12pm, Saturday 25th February. There will be entries accepted on the day but you’ll need to be quick, and early (rego opens 7am-8.15am). The event will be run in all conditions.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Open to children from 8 to 12 years inclusive
- Two swim distances to choose from: 200m or 400m
- Any child can swim, you don’t need to be a nipper – parents will have to sign a waiver to confirm their child can confidently swim the distance they choose
- Under 8′s can enter a fun (and free) run-wade-run on the day (start 8.05am) and there’ll be a sandcastle comp – both these events are eligible for spot prizes!
- Registration fee: $20 (includes cap and chance to win some amazing spot prizes!)
- Registration is online and they close 12 noon Saturday, 25 Feb. You can register on the day (7-8.15am), but with entries limited to 100 per distance you might want to get in early!
- Swim packs to be collected and participation number allocated between 7-8am
- Swim start times: 400m = 8.30am | 200m = 8.45am
- There are no prizes for top placings
- Spot prizes will be drawn at the presentation and participants must be present to claim prize
- Make sure you stick around for a BBQ and have a dance along to the live band
- All the proceeds from this swim go to the Tamarama and Clovelly Surf Life Saving Clubs
